Chapter History

Our chapter was founded in 1946, and has continued to be active ever
since. Many of the original members were women from Alpha Mu
chapter at the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now ULL) in
Lafayette, LA. In the early 1960's, with the installation of Gamma Eta
chapter at Loyola University, and Gamma Mu chapter at Southeastern
Louisiana College (now SLU) in Hammond, LA, the membership grew
with alumnae from these groups.

Any initiated Sigma is welcome to join the New Orleans Alumnae
chapter. We frequently update our members by e-mail, although several
notices are also sent by U.S. mail. Please notify any officer,
or click here,
if you wish to be included on either or both of our lists.

LOCAL PROGRAMS

Each year, we try to vary our activities, which usually number
between 6 and 8. We have participated in the Susan G. Komen
Race for the cure for breast cancer. We take advantage of living
near one of America's most interesting cities, visiting the WWII
Museum, the New Orleans Museum of Art, historical sites in the
French Quarter, and attending local professional sporting events. Of
course, we also enjoy the many fine restaurants in the area that are
available for both informal gatherings as well as formal ones, such
as Founders Day. In other words, there is never a lack of things for
our chapter members to do!
