COMMUNITY SERVICE For more than 15 years, our alumnae chapter has supported the New Orleans Adolescent Hospital, a facility in the city that was not as well-known as the renowned Children's Hospital, but one that was sorely needed by its teen-aged patients. In the past years, we obtained a "wish list" of Christmas gifts, which we brought to our annual holiday party, and would later deliver to the hospital. After significant budget cuts were made to the facility, our donations were monetary. We were officially listed among the "Friends of N.O.A.H.", and obtained several small grants for the hospital from the Sigma Foundation. The hospital is no longer open. Chapter members also participate yearly in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure; have filled Christmas boxes for needy children in Central America; and donate to the local Second Harvest organization. |
